A horseback ride in Oria, Pedasi, is a wonderful experience. The sign indicating the turnoff to the village of Oria Arriba features an image of a horse, highlighting one of the activities available in this area of great tourism potential. This horseback excursion offers a glimpse into authentic rural Panamanian life. Your local guide will welcome you and accompany you along the Oria River. The river boasts extraordinary biodiversity and serves as a habitat for numerous bird species.
The Oria River supports local agricultural activities. During the dry season, you can see locals harvesting watermelons and drying tobacco using traditional methods. Horseback rides in Oria are available year-round, except during periods of heavy rain. The route includes several river crossings; since the water level can fluctuate and become dangerous during the rainy season, we will let you know if conditions are suitable for the excursion.
The ride typically lasts about two hours and follows an out-and-back route, though the duration can be extended upon request. Groups of up to 10 horses can be arranged (with advance notice), although the standard group size is six horses. The other alternative is a horseback ride in Playa Venao or a horseback ride in Eco Venao.

What to bring? Long pants (preferably), hat, sunglasses, sneakers or closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, waterproof jacket (during the rainy season), and swimsuit (in case you want to cool off in the river).
Important information: Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Children may ride unaccompanied from the age of 4. Younger children may ride accompanied by their parents at no extra cost. There is no mobile phone coverage in the village of Oria Arriba. It is not a tourist area. You will ride horses belonging to a local family. The guide does not speak English, but this poses no issue for the horseback ride in Oria.
