Description
A whale watching tour in Pedasi is the best and cheapest option to see humpback whales in Panama. See the humpback whales when they come to give birth to their calves in the warm tropical waters that surround the Pacific Coast of Pedasi.
This tour is available ONLY from the 15 of July to the 15 of October. There is another whale watching tour from Cambutal.
Includes:
- Whale Watching: spend up to an hour out in the high sea while observing humpback whales. It is very common to see them jump, they like to put on quite a show! You can also see dolphins.
- Visit to Isla Iguana: this wildlife reserve was protected in 1981 because it is the home of over 5,000 frigate birds and plenty of iguanas. Its white sand beach with clear waters will make you think you are in the Caribbean Sea.
- Boats have a certified captain, life vests and roof.

Time: departure from 7 a.m. with a maximum return of 3:30 p.m.
What to bring? Bathing suit, sunglasses, aqua shoes or flip flops, towel, sunscreen, change of clothes, cooler with food and beverages and ID.
Important information: whale watching tour in Pedasi clients need to drive to Playa Arenal or Mariabe. Round trip transport is available for an additional fee of $15 from Pedasi and $60 from Playa Venao.
Price for a private tour accommodates 6 people. 1, 2 or 3 passengers may be included in other tours if available to pay a lower rate. We have boats that can accommodate 9 and 11 passengers. Please contact us for these options.
There is an immigration checkpoint before going on the tour. All passengers must bring their cedula, residency card or passport.
Isla Iguana is a national park and is subject to park fees. For foreigners it is $10, Panamanian / residents is $4, students (university and older than 12) is $2, jubilado or pensionado is $2, and children under 12 can go for free. We can help with this payment.
No alcohol is permitted on the island. Park rangers will check coolers. Visitors are allowed to drink on the boat ride. There are a few thatched roof beach huts on the island that are free on a first come first serve basis. It is possible to rent snorkeling gear for $5. There are designated snorkeling areas.
