Azuero Coastal Expedition

Description

Venture into one of Panama’s less explored coasts on this Azuero Coastal Expedition package. This six day package starts from Panama City to Cambutal which will be your base for exploring the area and Cerro Hoya National Park. You will ride horses through an ancient petroglyph trail, take a boat to the national park where you will see waterfalls, rivers and isolated beaches, as well as plenty of wildlife. End the adventure with a bit of Panamanian folklore by watching local dances and listening to cultural music.

Itinerary:

Day 1: travel from Panama City to Cambutal for approximately 5 hours depending on traffic. Includes dinner and welcome drinks

Day 2: beach morning for a swim after breakfast. Petroglyph trail ride in the afternoon where you will see the coastline on a horse until you ride through rolling hills to reach an ancient and mystic archeological site. Group dinner.

Day 3: eat breakfast and then head on a boat from Cambutal to Cerro Hoya National Park. See turtles, whales (seasonal), marlin and tuna along the ride. A 4×4 vehicle will wait in the port of Lajas to go through the jungle to a remote waterfall with several pools. Eat lunch in the jungle and return to Rio Lajas Cabins to have a home cooked dinner and bonfire.

Day 4: have a relaxing day exploring sea caves and tide pools in this remote beach area. Fishing trips can be arranged for an additional fee. Meals are included and a beach bonfire.

Day 5: sunrise coffee overlooking the sea and a light breakfast before heading back to Cambutal on a boat. Enjoy traditional Panamanian music and dances in the afternoon.

Day 6: eat breakfast and head back to Panama City.

What to bring? comfortable and light clothes, long pants, shorts, long sleeve sun shirts, rain jacket, bathing suit, hat, sunglasses, sneakers, flip-flops, hiking boots, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and camera.

Important information: the Azuero Coastal Expedition is ONLY done in the dry season from December through May. There is moderate physical activity required in this itinerary and you will venture into remote and beautiful areas which may not have phone signal or all the comforts of modern life.
