Descripción
The Isla Iguana guided snorkeling tour is ideal for those that want to explore the natural beauty of this nature reserve located off the coast of Pedasi. Start your tour at Le Panier, a French bakery in Pedasi, where you can have a coffee and breakfast. Your guide will meet you here. Together you will go to Playa Arenal to start your Isla Iguana guided snorkeling tour.
This tour is suitable for seasoned snorkelers or first time explorers, as long as guests know how to swim. Those who are weak swimmers can use a life jacket while snorkeling. Isla Iguana has over 40 hectares of coral reefs surrounding the island of 53 hectares, which has been protected since 1981. Snorkelers can see 17 species of coral, 200 species marine invertebrates, 347 species of fish, 3 species of sea turtles and 7 species of marine mammals. Whale watching in Panama can be done from June or July through October. We offer a whale watching tour in Pedasi.
Your guide will take you to the best places to snorkel in Isla Iguana. El Cirial is a coral reef which reaches up to the limits of low tide in front of the main beach in Isla Iguana. Depth varies according to the tide. One of the curious things about this snorkeling reef is that there is a bomb crater, which usually has hawksbill turtles. Another bomb crater can be seen on the path crossing through the island. These craters were done by the Americans during their time in Panama in World War II.
Some areas of the island can be dangerous for snorkeling because the current can pull swimmers out to open see. This is why the Isla Iguana guided snorkeling tour is ideal to see the best of the underwater world. Scuba diving used to be done in Isla Iguana, but there is no operator as of this moment.
