Description
Isla Iguana Tour is a private tour to cross to a national reserved located 5 kilometers off the coast of Pedasi. Boats have capacity for six or seven passengers. Price of the tour is for the entire boat, not per passenger.
The actual island has 13 hectares with more than 40 hectares of coral surrounding the island. There are designated spots for snorkeling in Isla Iguana. It is possible to see turtles, eels, dolphins, many species of fish and coral. The island is also home to many frigate birds, which can be seen upon arrival. As the name suggests, there are iguanas on the island, but you will probably see a lot more crabs!
Most of the beaches in the Pacific coast of Panama have darker sand, except for the islands. Isla Iguana has white sand and clear water that resembles the Caribbean Sea. Isla Iguana Tour allows visitors to explore the island at their own pace since they can decide when they want to go and leave.
Snorkeling gear can be rented for $5 per person. Isla Iguana has thatched huts which can be used by visitors on a first come, first serve basis. The island has very little infrastructure, just a station for the park rangers of the Ministry of Environment of Panama and a bathroom.
This tour does not include whale watching in Pedasi which is available from June or July through October. We have another tour for guided snorkeling in Isla Iguana.

Important information: Clients need to drive to Playa Arenal to start the Isla Iguana Tour. Round trip transport is available for an additional fee of $10 from the town of Pedasi or $60 from Playa Venao. We also have tours starting from Mariabe, please consult prices. Crossing distance is shorter which is ideal for summer when the waves can get choppy because of the wind. We do have shared tours on occasion, please contact us.
Alcohol is not permitted on the island, it is possible to drink on the way there or on the return. Coolers may be checked by park rangers and tourists can be asked to leave. Tourists can take food and beverages in a cooler which is provided during the Isla Iguana Tour. Please don’t leave any trash.
